Destination of radiometer
Radiometer of specific activity radioactive nuclides RUG-2001 is intends
for definition specific activity of natural radioactive nuclides 226Ra, 232Th,
40K and technogenic scales - radioactive nuclides 137Cs, 60Co in steel.
The radiometer has applied to definition of sample steel's specific activity in
the laboratories of the radiological surveillance and does not demand special
preparation for a sample. The gamma scale - spectrometric method is in a base of
the radiometer work and the procedure used for a measuring of a pulse-height
distribution from researched radioactive nuclides in fixed energy intervals.
The radiometer has labelled to the measuring instrument.
2.
Structure of radiometer
The radiometer is a
stationary arrangement. It is consisting of the following crucial components:
- the radiometric unit with lead protection against agency of an environing
background on process of measuring. Depth of lead protection in
measuring zone is 10 cm;
- the detection unit on basis NaJ (Tl) with the intrinsic well;
- the amplitude transducer unit;
- PC;
- the package of exemplary volumetric measures of activity are using for
a testing of the radiometer technical condition and a checking.

The
detection unit
will
transform a stream of gamma-ray energies to pulses consecution. In a
butt of the detection unit is located the well for seating analyzed
sample.
The four of the detection unit could be connect simultaneously to the
PC.
Maximum distance between the PC and the detection unit is 10 m.
The amplitude transducer is transformed the pulses amplitude
from the detection unit to numeric codes and transmits them to a PC. The
amplitude transducer has two independent ports of information
processing; it can be simultaneously connected two detection unit. The
transducer has positioned in the loose PCI-slot of a PC.
The information exchange has effected through a COM-port.
 Software

- the user interface which is including the packages of steering by
technology of measuring in automatic and the conversational mode,
management of a database, realization of calibration, checking and
submission of the information;
- is a possibility of deriving and information processing simultaneously
from four radiometric clusters;
- is a possibility of a measuring mode and an automatic calibration;
- is a possibility of documentation result by the way protocols of the
selected form. the user interface including packages of control by technology of
measuring in self-acting and the dialog mode, supports of a database,
carrying out of sizing, checking and performance of the information;
- a possibility of deriving and information processing simultaneously
from four radiometric clusters;
- control of a regime of measuring and self-acting sizing;
- a possibility of documenting of outcomes of analysis as protocols of
the selected form.
